Foundation for Working Families
The Foundation for Working Families is a non-profit organization established by the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO and its affiliates. It provides emergency cash assistance to union families in Washington state who have suffered property loss during flooding, wildfires, or other natural disasters.
Processing of applications typically takes two weeks. Average assistance is $200-$300, and the maximum lifetime benefit for hardship or disaster assistance is $500 per union member. All applications are screened based on current funding availability.
- Assistance is available only for UNION households; applicants must be union members.
- Must be experiencing an extreme financial hardship (e.g., eviction notice, utility shut-off) or have experienced loss due to a natural disaster (e.g., loss of home, vehicle, outbuildings, or livestock due to fire/flood).
Complete the FFWF Disaster Relief Form online. You will need to provide your union contact information, describe your specific property losses (home, vehicle, outbuildings, livestock), and upload proof of loss or supporting evidence.

If you are facing extreme financial hardship (such as eviction or utility shut-off) rather than direct property damage, use the FFWF Hardship Request Form and attach copies of your relevant bills.
