My Safe Florida Home Program

Homeowners
Description

The My Safe Florida Home (MSFH) Program provides eligible Florida homeowners with a free wind-mitigation inspection and a matching grant of up to $10,000 to harden their homes against hurricanes.

Funding is limited, and grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The program operates as a two-step process: homeowners must first apply for and complete a free wind-mitigation inspection. Only after receiving the inspection report can homeowners apply for the mitigation grant to fund approved structural improvements.

Requirements
  • Must be a Florida homeowner.
  • Must have a home with an insured value of $700,000 or less (low-income homeowners are exempt from this limit).
  • The building permit application for the initial construction of the home must have been made before January 1, 2008.
